Gremsy, HHLA Sky & Sony Partner to Revolutionize Drone Inspections with AI Tech

Gremsy and HHLA Sky Partnership

Strategic Partnership Elevates Industrial Drone Inspections with Advanced Gimbals, AI, and Sony Imaging Technology

Gremsy and HHLA Sky have announced a collaboration focused on enhancing industrial drone inspections, combining Gremsy’s Pixy LR S-Port gimbals, HHLA Sky’s Integrated Control Center (ICC), and Sony’s cutting-edge digital imaging technology. This strategic alliance is set to improve efficiency and accuracy in inspection processes across various industries.

HHLA Sky, a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), is a leader in automating drone inspections. With Gremsy’s Pixy LR S-Port gimbals equipped with Sony’s ILX-LR1 cameras, the new solution enables inspections of large structures from afar. Recently, HHLA Sky demonstrated this by inspecting container gantry cranes at the Port of Hamburg without close-proximity flights.

Integrating Technology for Superior Inspections

The partnership merges Gremsy’s advanced gimbals with HHLA Sky’s ICC, a centralized control system managing over 100 drone operations simultaneously. The ICC supports remote, beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) control and is certified to IEC 62443 cybersecurity standards. This automation reduces delays typically seen in manual inspections and enhances operational efficiency at industrial sites worldwide.

A key component is HHLA Sky’s AI-powered data pre-processing unit, which accelerates the transfer of relevant inspection data to specialists, enabling faster and more efficient evaluations.

Sony’s Imaging Technology Drives Precision

Sony brings its advanced imaging capabilities to the partnership, integrating the high-resolution ILX-LR1 camera, which features a 61 MP full-frame sensor and captures up to 8 frames per second. These cameras, fitted within Gremsy’s Pixy LR S-Port gimbals, enable consistent, high-precision inspections. Operators can control the camera and gimbal remotely via Sony’s SDK and HHLA Sky’s ICC interface.

Vinh Tran, CEO at Gremsy, commented, “We are thrilled to innovate in industrial inspections with HHLA Sky and Sony. By combining our Pixy LR-Sport gimbals with Sony’s exceptional imaging technology and HHLA Sky’s Mobile Robot Management solution, we’re setting new standards for inspection efficiency and precision.”

Matthias Gronstedt, CEO at HHLA Sky, echoed, “This partnership with Gremsy and Sony enables us to deliver advanced drone inspection solutions. The integration of Gremsy’s gimbals, Sony’s ILX-LR1 cameras, and our ICC platform empowers organizations to optimize inspection processes and achieve outstanding results.”

Automated Remote Control and Repeated Precision

The system enables full remote control over the camera and gimbal, with automated recording and mission repetition ensuring consistency across inspections. Tailored for organizations seeking enhanced inspection capabilities, this partnership combines smart technology for optimized, accurate results.
